What Kahuli Means

Kahuli is the song of the forest.
It is a rare snail that carries a picture of the galaxy on its shell.
It is tiny and threatened, but it catches the power of the wind and turns it into music.
Once, a single kahuli stopped a multi-billion dollar freeway that was designed for war on the world, simply by existing.

Ka huli is the kalo slip, the backbone of our elder brother Haloa,
which is planted to renew the sustenance of life and the ongoing, ever-growing relationship between land and people.

Kahuli is the movement of life in a spiral motion, as a galaxy or the grooves on a record.

Kahuli means revolution.

Who We Are

Kahuli is a conscious musical hui from O'ahu, Hawai'i.

Kahuli was born from the desire to create original "indigenous roots" music
that would strengthen and celebrate the spirit of the movement for Aloha 'Aina and Pono.

We are dedicated to the struggle for native rights, protection of the 'aina and PEACE with JUSTICE.
Our songs & CONSCIOUS GROOVES are a celebration of life and fruits of inspiration,
which we love to share with people of all nations.

AS BROTHERS AND SISTERS, AS MUSICIANS OF CONSCIENCE,
AS SOUJOURNERS ON THE PATH OF PEACE, JUSTICE, PONO
WE STAND UNITED BY THE RHYTHMS OF THE 'AINA, THE KAI, THE VAST PO
TO MAKE A POWERFUL SOUND FOR THE HEALING OF THE EARTH AND HER PEOPLE
