Kapono Ciotti (percussion) has extensive training in African drumming, which he has expanded every year with a musical pilgrimage to Senegal. Among many other accomplishments, he has played for the Presidents of Senegal and Mauritania, and for several exorcisms. He has also opened for Carlos Santana.

 In addition to Kahuli, Kapono plays in Jamorek, an African - drum-based group which has a strong following of fans and dancers on O'ahu.

 Kapono is a devoted paddler who competes in the Moloka'i race each year and coaches youth paddling teams as well.  He is a teacher at Maryknoll High School and lives in Ka'a'awa.
