Pete Shimazaki Doktor (Bass, guitar, vocals, "conscious grooves") has roots in Uchinanchu culture and music, and in addition to Kahuli plays Taiko drums (he also plays Sansheen, the Okinawan shamisen)at local events such as New year celebrations and Bon dances -- when he has the time!
Pete attended the Musicians Institute of Technology in L.A., and has worked as a studio musician. He is also a strong demilitarization organizer, and counsels youth on alternatives to military enlistment. He holds a Master's degree in education and teaches at Farrington High School.
